Josh van der Flier and Mack Hansen crossed for a try each as Ireland beat South Africa in an Autumn Nations Series thriller at the Aviva Stadium.

The pair scored five minutes apart as the world’s number one-ranked team opened up a 16-6 lead, before tries from South Africa’s Franco Mostert and Kurt-Lee Arendse set up a tense finish.

Ireland held on but South Africa will rue costly kicking errors, with one penalty and two conversions missed off the tee on a tough afternoon for fly-half Damian Willemse and full-back Cheslin Kolbe.
