12th May 2022 Reading Time: 1 min Share by Andy Baber Ireland will take on world champions South Africa in Dublin for the first time in five years this November as part of the 2022 Autumn Nations Series at Aviva Stadium. The two sides have not met since Ireland beat the Springboks 38-3 in 2017 but South Africa have since gone on to claim a third Rugby World Cup title and a series win over the Lions. The opening Autumn Nations Series clash at Aviva Stadium, on Saturday 5th November (kick-off 5.30pm), will be the only meeting between the two sides before they face one another in the Stade de France at Rugby World Cup 2023. Ireland will then face Fiji on Saturday 12th November (kick-off 1pm) in what will also be the first meeting between the sides since 2017 when the Men in Emerald Green won 23-20 in Dublin. Fiji qualified for the Rugby World Cup by finishing third in their Pool in Japan having pushed both Wales and Australia during that tournament, while Ireland were due to travel to Fiji in the summer of 2021 before the global pandemic made it impossible to go ahead. Finally, Andy Farrell’s men face a mouth-watering clash against the Australia on Saturday 19th November (kick-off 8pm) in their last game of the 2022 Autumn Nations Series. The last fixture between the two nations was back in 2018 as Ireland clinched the three-Test series with a 20-16 victory in Sydney but Australia have not been in Dublin since 2016 when Ireland held on to record a 27-24 victory against the Wallabies.
