Rory Arnold and Izack Rodda

Powerful lock Rory Arnold will return to the Australia team for their opening Autumn Nations Series match against Scotland this Sunday.

Arnold last played for his country two years ago at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, but returns as head Dave Rennie values experience for the trip to Edinburgh.

The Wallabies take on the Scots at Murrayfield on Sunday in a 14:15 GMT kick-off, live on Amazon Prime Video.

Brumbies prop Allan Alaalatoa also makes his return to the starting side, pushing Taniela Tupou to the bench.

The 26-year-old try scoring sensation Andrew Kellaway is at full-back for the Aussies, whilst James O’Connor takes the role at fly-half.

Kellaway grabbed a hat-trick of tries in their previous outing, a 32-17 win over Argentina last month.

French-based pair Will Skelton and Kurtley Beale are both on the bench after joining up with the Wallabies this week.

Head coach Rennie said: “To be able to call on the experience and quality of players like Rory, Kurtley and Will is really valuable for our group.

“Those three guys have merged with the group seamlessly, worked hard on their detail this week and are super excited to earn another opportunity to represent their country.”

In the matchday squad, only captain Michael Hooper and replacement Beale started last time Australia visited Murrayfield four years ago.

On the bench is uncapped Izaia Perese a multi-code centre, who has recently impressed for the New South Wales Waratahs.

He forms part of a very capable bench, as Australia aim for their first win over Gregor Townsend’s team since 2016.

In the last meeting between the two back in 2017, The Scots won 53-24, with the home side running in eight tries after a red card was shown to prop Sekope Kepu.

Australia come into the series fresh from a second-place finish in this year’s Rugby Championship, only losing to eventual champions New Zealand.
