Rufus McLean scores his Try of the Week

Rufus McLean finished off his perfect international debut weekend by winning the Autumn Nations Series Try of the Week for Round One.

The 21-year-old flyer pulled on the Scotland jersey for the first time during his country’s 60-14 victory over Tonga at BT Murrayfield and enjoyed a dream debut as he crossed the whitewash for a first-half try double.

His second score was a thing of beauty and saw him go viral on social media, as a lineout move provided the platform before crisp passing from the backs ended with Blair Kinghorn finding McLean, who side-stepped James Faiva brilliantly to race over the line.

And that was voted as the Try of the Week for Round One by you, the fans, as it received a mammoth 71% of the public vote.

Sevu Reece finishing off a brilliant New Zealand team try during their 54-16 triumph over Wales in Cardiff came second with 14% of the vote, while Will Jordan’s chip-and-chase score earned 5%.

Those two All Blacks scores were split by another Scotland try against Tonga – Kyle Steyn completing his hat-trick by dotting down Blair Kinghorn’s cross-kick.
