Jonny May was the star of the show at Twickenham on Saturday, as the English winger’s two tries made all the difference in the 18-7 victory over Ireland in Round 2 of the Autumn Nations Cup.

The Gloucester man opened the scoring in London after out jumping Hugo Keenan to a high ball on the English right, before touching down in the corner.

And that was followed by one of the all-time great Twickenham tries soon after, as the 30-year-old became the joint-second top try scorer for his country.

After picking up the ball on the left hand side, May left the Ireland defence in his wake, before chipping the ball forward into the gaping backfield.

After turning on the afterburners to win the foot race, the winger put boot to ball again before collecting under the posts to round off a superb individual effort.

Two second-half penalties from Owen Farrell extended the lead to 18, as the hosts defended their try line valiantly throughout, until Jacob Stockdale grabbed a late consolation for Andy Farrell’s side.

The victory sees Eddie Jones’ side sitting top of Group A heading into the final round of fixtures, as they secured a sixth straight victory in all competitions.
