Lowe set for Ireland debut in Autumn Nations Cup opener

Leinster wing James Lowe will make his Ireland debut as they kick off their Autumn Nations Cup campaign against Wales on Friday night.

The 28-year-old New Zealand-born flyer has scored three times in two Guinness PRO14 appearances this season and will make his international bow at the Aviva Stadium.

He joins his Leinster teammate Hugo Keenan and Ulster’s Jacob Stockdale in the back three, with Robbie Henshaw and Chris Farrell making up the midfield.

Scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park makes his first Ireland start and will link up with Johnny Sexton, who captains the side in his 94th appearance.

Iain Henderson returns to the second row to partner James Ryan, one of six Leinster players in the starting pack.

The front row is all Leinster – Cian Healy, Ronan Kelleher and Andrew Porter – while in the back row, Josh van der Flier and Caelan Doris are joined by the experienced Peter O’Mahony of Munster.

Uncapped fly-half Billy Burns could make his debut having been named among the replacements, with Conor Murray and Keith Earls the other backs on the bench.

Connacht trio Dave Heffernan, Finlay Bealham and Quinn Roux are also named as substitutes alongside Leinster’s Ed Byrne and Will Connors.

Wales are to name their team at noon tomorrow (Wednesday).
